Welcome to my website: Robert Hare Stavers Photography. With my wife, Judy Chovan, I sought the serenity and community of San Juan Island in 2001, following my retirement after 32 years as a Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers, an international accounting and consulting firm. Different life! Photography has been a life-long passion and the San Juan Islands offer an unusual opportunity to explore and capture beautiful and compelling pictures of the world around me. I am intrigued by the interplay of light, color and objects. It is light that the camera captures and I am drawn to its effect on what I see. By using light to create different moods; mysterious - exotic - serene - playful, I seek to transform ordinary scenes into extraordinary images. My images are digitally captured or, in the case of images before 2004, are scanned from 35mm transparencies. I use photoshop to make color and contrast corrections. The final images are printed on an Epson 4880 professional printer with archival inks on archival paper. Most of the images are printed as open editions. I hope you enjoy browsing through the site.
