Images in this gallery will be on exhibit at the San Juan Community Theater in Friday Harbor, Washington during the month of July 2025.  The photographs are not from any particular time period or location but were chosen based on the thoughts expressed in the statement accompanying the exhibit, which follows:

As a photographer I am acutely aware of being alone, but never lonely.  Watching light play over a scene or seeing a composition unfold while slowly walking is almost always a solitary exercise.  In looking through images collected over several years I was struck by how many of them suggested the serenity and beauty of being alone.

It also struck me that what I needed, now, today, was a sense of calm.  I hope that this collection of images provides that same sense of serenity and beauty and one goes away feeling a little bit better about the world
