The correct answer to the question “What’s the best camera?” is “The one you have with you”.  And the best answer to the question “Where are the best places to take photographs?” is Wherever you look”.

On an unusually overcast morning in early November, as part of my recovery from a torn quadriceps tendon, I went for a 2 mile walk (measured from our front door).  Almost immediately I noticed small bits of bright light on the dark mountains as breaks in the cloud cover allowed spotlights of sunshine to come through.  The rest of the walk, iPhone in hand, I watched for  these interplays of sunlight and shadow on the hills together with interesting foregrounds.
